Privacy Policy

Brew Element is a specialty coffee roastery at 214 Alder Street, Portland, OR 97204. This policy explains what information our online store collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the shop and your account — not to visits to our café.

We collect only what running your order requires:

• Account: your name, email address, and a password (stored only in hashed form — we can't read it).
• Orders: delivery name, street address, city, country, ZIP code, email, and phone number, plus the items you bought.
• Support: anything you send us by email or phone so we can resolve your request.
• Newsletter: your email address, only if you sign up for it.

We use your information to fulfil and deliver orders, run your account, answer support requests, and send transactional emails — order confirmations, account verification, and password resets.

Marketing email goes only to people who opted into the newsletter, and every issue includes a way out. We never use your data to build advertising profiles.

Card payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal over encrypted connections. Your card number goes directly to them — it never touches our servers, and we store only the payment confirmation reference attached to your order.

Cash-on-delivery orders involve no payment data at all until the courier hands you the box.

Your shopping cart is stored in your own browser's local storage, so it survives a refresh without us tracking you. When you log in, we store a session token so you stay signed in.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. Clearing your browser storage empties your cart and signs you out — nothing breaks.

We never sell or rent your personal information. It is shared only with the services that make your order work:

• Delivery carriers receive your name, address, and phone number to deliver the package.
• Stripe and PayPal process your payment under their own privacy policies.
• Authorities, only if the law genuinely requires it of us.

Order records are kept as long as accounting and warranty obligations require. Your account exists until you ask us to delete it, and the newsletter list keeps your email only until you unsubscribe.

You can view and update your details anytime under My Account. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and data entirely.

The store runs over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and access to order data is limited to the people who pack and ship your coffee. No online service can promise perfect security, so if you suspect any problem with your account, contact us and we'll lock it down together.

The store is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

When we change this policy, the new version is posted here with an updated date at the top. Meaningful changes are flagged in the order emails of active customers — we won't quietly move the goalposts.
